The hockey community teaches kids the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork, and fitness, all while building friendships, and connections that may last a lifetime. This charity was set up, with the goal of getting more children involved in this beneficial community. We support families with financial restrictions, who are not able to take care of all of the requirements for their children to play the sport of hockey by helping with registration fees, equipment needs and goalie development camp.
Why We Do This
Brendon spent time volunteering in the community, so we felt that it was the best was to honour him by giving back to the people that provided so much for him. He was a mentor to those around him, he gave back to his community and he was supportive to all his teammates, friends and family. We hope to encourage these values and culture within the sport of hockey, by allowing kids who personify these traits to participate in the sport.
We believe that there is a great deal that children and families can gain from this team sport, and want to share this experience with as many as we can.
The application includes information on financial need, reference letters, and other items that remain confidential throughout the process. A selection group will go over all the information provided and come to a decision based off of the submitted information. The number of children chosen will be determined based off of fundraising that goes on throughout the year.
Applications may be submitted through the Hockey Calgary Website. A link will be posted here when we are accepting applications for the 2019/20 Season
